Description: | NOTICE: Early release for comments and critiques. Feature requests welcome (modulation will be added to v1). A Max4Live implementation of Tom Whitwell's Turing Machine (Random Looping Sequencer) module. I am not Tom Whitwell, but I'm sure he's a nice guy. Used for the generation of pseudo-random midi sequences that can be captured / looped / inverted and then scaled to fit a range of possible notes. The following reading is suggested: http://goo.gl/LUVFo3 - Turing Machine Manual (pdf) http://goo.gl/oqEWlt - Turing Pulses/Voltages Expanders (pdf) How to use: Drop the device between a midi clip and midi instrument. Press play on the midi clip to begin clocking/triggering the device with midi notes. Adjust controls as described below (soon). Use of Ableton MIDI effects recommended. Note output fixed at 96 velocity with a note length of 250 ms. Note: This has not been thoroughly tested. Things might get wonky if multiple devices are used. The shift register is extremely volatile. Editing or removing the device clears the memory. THERE ARE NO PRESETS, THERE IS NO SEQUENCE RECALL. Also there's no automation. Sorry. I assembled this for personal experimentation / expansion as a "proof of concept". As such I offer it here for further modification from yourself. Remove features, add options, extend dial steps for finer changes. The patching is relatively compartmentalized so with the original device's manual you should be able to figure out what's going on and adjust accordingly. The objects are signal rate because of my own intended use. A max scheduler version is feasible but could lead to timing /shift register in accuracies. |

great idea - i built one of these modules and was hoping someone would do a M4L patch of it!! thanks! |
Can anyone explain what the different options in the drop-down menu that contains "clock, bit 1, bit 2....etc" does? Something got to do with how info is stored and output in the shift-register? |
OK, did a bit rtfm and it's a bit clearer now ;) If anyone has any further insight it couldn't hurt :) |
