How do I use the velocity "option"? I'm a bit confused...

I understand that the bridge lets you at least pass SysEx to and from Ableton... I tried another bridge (http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/2832/m4l-sysex) but it doesn't even see my midi ports...

excuse me if I'm off topic... can I use this sysex bridge with other synthesizers? basically, I'm looking for a universal sysex bridge, or something like that... :)
