Overview

Name | Version: Domain Mixer 1.0
Author: WesDaMooch
Device Type: Audio Effect
Description: The Domain Mixer takes a traditional stereo two-channel mixer and turns it on its side. Now, instead of blending audio amplitudes, the spectral content of one signal is modulated by the amplitude envelope of another — the frequency domain mixed with the time domain.

Is this similar approach to what we see with United Plugins Transmutator in terms of spectral crossfading?
Hi Sleepcycle,
Yeah, it's like Transmutator in that it mixes two signals together in an unconventional way. I haven't personally tried Transmutator, but it looks like it blends both signals in the spectral domain. It analyses and combines the audio based on tonal/noisy components. Domain Mixer only changes the frequency content of the Carrier signal. The Modulator's RMS over time is used as a spectral envelope that's applied to the Carrier. I think the sound from these two devices would be pretty different, though the concept behind them is similar. If you have Transmutator you could test it out and let me know what you think.
I can't seem to figure out how to get the two signals routed to the device.   Tried setting a separate audio track that has it's audio routed to 3/4, then selected that track as the input source on my track with domain mixer but this "greys out" the sample I'm trying to play on the track (to mix in with 3/4).   Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
