Description: | 1.3- Tweaked the UI/Zoom and added Duration quantization mode. Moved relevant parameters to the related sections of the UI instead of spread across the bottom and tweaked the UI scaling to work a little better. Added Duration quantizing to the duration section QD- locks the duration values to 1/2 of the current grid in the clip. This lets the subdivisions fall more easily on the grid without them being quantized directly. Off is the previous behavior. 1.2- Added Zoom selection for smaller monitors. There's now a selectable scale on both the window and clip Tool window for setting the size. Because of the way midiTools load/unload it seems to not be persistent throughout a session. Lanes is a MidiTool Generator that makes sequences of notes. It has 8 Lanes that can have a variable length up to 16 steps by dragging the white handle on each lane. The values in each lane will be wrapped to fit within the total steps set by the value in the lower left corner, If you've used my 3Gates tool its very similar. each lane has a button for rotating, reseting, randomizing and shuffling the values in the lane. From top to bottom- Gates, On gate = note Off gate = no note(surprise) Pitches, -12 to 12 in the 3rd octave by default conforming to the current scale. Velocity, 0 to 127, 100 by default. Subdivisions, Subdivides the note in a range of 1(none) to 8 by dragging or clicking on the slider.Holding Option key on a Mac( or Windows equivalent) and dragging up or down on the right or left side of the slider creates a velocity ramp for the subdivisions. With only one side adjusted it makes a linear ramp up or down, with both sides adjusted it creates a parabolic arch from low to high with the midpoint dependent on the values. Duration, A value from -100 to 400 Defaults to 0( current grid interval). Adjust the duration of the notes relative to the current grid interval in live. If a subdivision falls on the same note as a duration value other than the default value the duration is used to subdivide the note. Chance, 0 to 100 chance in lives chance tab. Transpose, a second set of Pitch sliders that can be used to offset the initial ones, conformed to the current scale. Octave, sets the Octave -24 to 24 At the bottom- Total Steps, Sets the total amount of notes the lanes wrap around. Quantize, to the current grid in lives clip Legato, makes notes legato Global Octave, set the initial octave before the lanes. Subdiv Pitch Mode, Mode A, Subdivided notes all have the same pitch. Mode B, Subdivided notes step through the Pitches set by the lanes. I made this mainly for creating longer sequences over 8 bars with a larger grid intervals but it works for lots of stuff. Hope someone finds it useful(: |

Looks incredible Greg, sadly, the floating window doesn't fit on my screen, even though it's a 16'' laptop.

Ah damn haha. I didn’t even consider that. I’ll add a zoom level.

This is pretty amazing! The first time I added it to my Midi Generators and tried it, I couldn't get the pop up window to show up but after deleting it and copying back to the midi folder, it's working great now. I'm also on a small laptop - Mac. Thanks for sharing this - really cool!

Nice, yeah I’ve had a few bugs with this version of max so far. I’m sure it’ll all get sorted with time. It never occurred to me to make the window resizable I’m old and need everything big so I can see it haha. It should be pretty straightforward I’ll get it updated in a day or two.

Thanks for the update, I could test it properly now.
I love the idea of having rhythm generation as well as pitch and velocity modulation in a single tool, although I'm still not sold on the floating window for MIDI tools, as they block the clip view on smaller screens. I guess it's a tradeoff between more functionality and better UI/UX at the expense of worse visual feedback.
By the way, the subdivision feature doesn't divide the notes in equal parts, not sure if this is intentional or not.

Cool, yeah I think a floating window isn’t great without multiple monitors or a huge one for sure. Ideally I think miditools work best as a single focused tool that does one thing at a time in that little box but the “sequencer” as miditools I’ve been making needed more room so it’s a trade off for sure.
The subdivisions should be equal? If they fall on the same step as a duration adjustment they probably wouldn’t be quantized to the grid though. I could probably tweak it to work a few different ways in a later update.
