Description: This is a control patch for the Jomox Alpha Base Drum machine including 11 individual Max-for-Live devices for each of the Drum voices, nicely packed into a self installing Ableton Live project file.

The max for live devices already sit in a drum rack with corresponding external MIDI Instrument, ready to start controlling your Alpha Base parameters

Drop the file into Ableton Live, select location and then either chose to open the whole project, or from the Live browser select the individual track named 'JoMoX AlphaBASE' and drop it into your project.

You may have to set your own audio interface in the menu of the External Instrument. MIDI Channels should be selected 1 to 11 starting from Kick Drum at channel 1.

Full version of Ableton Live with Max for Live required.
Created and tested with Windows OS only. So MAC Os - feel free to try.

Version 0.23 - Control of Alpha Base Reverb and Delay sections are not provided at this point. Devices subject to possible change.

Is it birectional?

if you mean by bi directional that changes made on the hardware also reflect on the device, sadly I have to answer no.

I am by no means an advanced programmer and I made this with help from previously shared Jomox 888 and 999 controllers as guideline - just took the manual of the AB and changed the corresponding controller numbers.

If anybody more experienced is willing to take on this project, I would be most happy.

It is absolutely helpful and thank you for making it!! :-)

If I have some time, I will try to check:
1. if the AB can send parameters/parameter changes out (e.g. when changing presets or even better "on request")
2. using ctlin for control change input should be pretty forward, I have already done this in the past for my Eowave Magma device (which was also "inspired" by someone else's work :-) ). Might take a look at it.

I would be happy if you could add improvements when you got the time and passion.

Since the parameter locking really is not great on the Alphabase itself (Mr. Jomox announced improvements for the next version..), I thought it was nice having these controllers and mapping things like step modulatiors on them as a kind of workaround!

Two issues to point out which I missed in the description.
1. Sometimes my AB would freeze upon reloading a set with these devices added. Not sure if it is the devices or the quirky nature of AB itself when receiving MIDI CC information...
2. I could not implement the Scene function of the MBrane channel, because it has been added later and there have been no infos about its CC in the manual I had at hand.

Hi, I looked a bit into your device and have a couple of suggestions:
1. you should also give "Long name" and "scripting name" proper names (you can link those 2). Will be A LOT easier in the long run (presets, recall, storage etc)
2. you can order how parameters appear on external controllers by going to "View" > "Parameters" and then fill out the "#" column with numbers.
3. you can multi-select patch cables by holding ALT and then select via mouse.
4. you can then align all patch cables at once by right clicking > "Align", gives a tidier look ;-)
5. Some parameters should have distinct values. For example for Pitch you can use the "Unit Style" of Semitone, LFORate could be in hz.
