Device Overview

Name/Version: Maze 1.0.1
Author: Noisscoko
Description: Maze is a simple Max for Live looping device, inspired by the Time Lag Accumulator system developed by electronic music composer Terry Riley.

Known as one of the earliest live recording technics, it is constructed around a short tape loop and two reel to reel tape machines. The first records the sound while the other plays it back shortly after, thus creating an endless feedback loop.

The same approach was also adopted by many other musicians throughout the years, with Brian Eno and Robert Fripp probably being one of the most popular examples of all.

This is a wonderful device, great work. One small thing: I can't seem to type in different times...it keeps returning to "2.00".

Thanks for your comments and support! I guess this is what you're experiencing... In this case the loop length is limited between 2 and 20 seconds. But remember! Ultimately these values are set by milliseconds. If you type in 50, it will think you're trying to set a 50 milliseconds buffer, which is below its limit and therefore the closest value is set instead. Try with 3000 ms (3 secs), 4000 ms (4 secs), etc. It's not different from any other time parameter within Live.

Hey man,
I find this device more useful than the ableton looper plugin and the concept is amazing! Thanks for sharing this!
I wanted to ask if it's possible to switch the MS to Bars and sync the record button to Ableton tempo. That would be awesome and soo useful!
I know the concept of this device is to be tempo free but since we are inside Live that would an optional and useful addiction.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi! I'll think about it... Thanks for your feedback!
