Description: | W.I.S.E. (Wavetable-Integrated Sample Engine) is an experimental sample player/synth/looper, featuring a topology-inspired design that employs complex single-cycle waveforms and modulation parameters for real-time control over a sample’s time domain: the audio file’s playback speed is controlled by an incoming stream of amplitude values. This device is a mix between an audio effect and an audio instrument: it allows to create variations of the same sound or entire new textures very quickly, by making use of peculiarly shaped single-cycle control wavetables - the amplitudes of each one have been also integrally summed up and normalized, following a specific ratio - to maintain a time-domain relationship between the unprocessed (DRY) and the processed (WET) sample. The two samples share a topological connection, and the control waveforms - despite their varying shapes - also share a “common path” in journey duration due to their consistent summed and renormalized index values. Furthermore, features like amplitude and phase control enable dynamic traversal of the original audio file offering routes that, although different from each other, are topologically equivalent in length. To use it just load it onto a MIDI Track, drop a sample into it, send some MIDI Notes, and start experimenting. Check out the manual here: https://pastebin.com/pNgnFJLz If you want to know how waveforms are integrated in W.I.S.E. you can read the essay draft I'm working on: https://pastebin.com/75Zn5JHT W.I.S.E. has now a mono lo-fi, more vintage sounding little brother (also a tad less CPU-expensive): https://maxforlive.com/library/device/9445/w-i-s-e-ino You can now create/draw integrated waveforms using the following device: https://maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=9603 |

Yo this is really sick! ive been looking for a plugin like this, i have some ideas for a sick Loop wrangler, are you interested?
it goes something like.. always in key, diffrent speeds, more speeds for polyrythems, volume automation for groove. reverse, scale filter removes tones out of key, scale tonal boost resonator. pitch, sample layers.. u might get the idea. stretch, The idea is making a funa nd intuitive way to wrangle loops, that requires more creativity than teqnicalitity.

any way you will add Drawing in wavetable phase?

would also bee sick uf u could slice a sample and assign diffrent speeds to diffrent slices.

is it hard to make a halfspeed type plugin iwht max for live?

what about making it adjust speeds based on clip automation or a sequencer/ Freeform Lfo?
and what about transform live audio with buffer?
Btw
ïrcamax has some cool time based max for live devices.

Hey @saus.
thank you for your suggestions and feedback, I'm glad you like it.
I hope to roll out the next features soon, they will include:
- Wavetable drawing + integration (near real-time change)
- more speed controls
- reverse
The stretch algorithm is on WIP. it's very long to port from Plogue Bidule.
As for the "always in key" this is an extremely difficult feature I've been trying to implement in another synth prototype, focused on harmony rather than grooves. this is because Wave integration applied to harmony follows a different set of concepts, it's mathematically way less linear. Live audio with buffer is something I'm also working on, but it'll take some time for that too. So I'll focus on groove atm.
What do you mean by "halfspeed" though? you mean lower speed when it comes to the modulation? it should very easy to implement.
As for the IRCAMax I know they are great, but I try to keep myself distant from that school of thought.
