Overview
Name | Version: | circle sequencers 1.0 |
Author: | philarcher |
Device Type: | MIDI Effect |
Description: | Two 'circle sequencers' based on work done by Wouter Hisschemöller (http://www.hisschemoller.com) that use Euclidean rhythms to generate MIDI data. The first sends a single MIDI note whenever the dial hits one of the event points, while the second steps through a sequence. The devices are started and stopped by sending them a MIDI note (any note) - a note on message starts the sequencer running and a note off stops it. These were made as exercises to get to grips with Max for Live, so the patches are very messy and it's unlikely i'll do any updates or support. *UPDATE* Another MaxForLive user has taken up development of this idea - see here for his profile: http://www.maxforlive.com/profile/user/bennniii |

I would like to work with this but couldn't get any midi notes to output. Using Live Suite v. 8.2.2 and Max v 5.1.8

Just noticed the wheel doesn't turn with the Live transport.

Actually, I just re-read the description and got it working by sending it a midi note to start. Seems kind of counter-intuitive for a sequencer to me, but I expect you had a reason for making it that way. Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part; works to work exactly as described.

hi nofi, sorry i didn't reply before - i just stuck the devices up here and then forgot about them! glad you got it to work in the end.
i used midi notes to trigger the sequencers to make sure that they would always start and stop at the right place. i couldn't figure out how to tie the wheel position to the playhead. i'm sure it's not rocket science, but it's beyond me at the moment...

This is really great, i can see me using it allot like Ml 185. I hope you keep working on it not really sure what you could add though. I like the way you can stretch the sequence divisions over length reminds me of reaktors limelite.
