Device Overview

Name/Version: MIDIprobD4 0.03
Author: synthesizerwriter
Description: MIDIprobD4 takes MIDI drum note events and controls their probability. If you want a hi-hat that is less predictable, then this will do it. Snares that aren't always on beats 2 and 4? - this is what you need.

Incoming MIDI drum notes blink the indicator in the top left, and the MIDI note number is shown. Set one of the four channels to this number, and then choose the probability of that drum event happening with the rotary control on the right hand side. Purple indicators show all the incoming notes, whilst the light purple indicators light up only when a note is output to the drum Rack. 100% = every note goes straight through. 50% = half of the notes will pass thru. 0% = no notes will be output! Velocity just passes through unchanged, so all of your careful editing of accents is not affected.

(This is work in progress. Sometimes the output indicator will flash will flash but no drum sound will happen. I've not been able to discover why this happens - maybe it should be thought of as a 'feature' and not a 'bug')

Although published in Black Friday week 2019, there isn't any way I can give a discount - it is already free! Enjoy!

Hey, synthesizerwriter. I really enjoy using this effect! It makes drum mixing much more dynamic.

There is one bug I wanted to ask you about, however: When I turn the prob knob for a note down to 0, that note always plays the next event from the sequencer, and THEN it stops sending note values through. This makes "mixing" with the prob knob playing the part of a level fader just a tad awkward, since it's hard to calculate when I need to turn the knob to zero if I always need to keep the next event in mind.

Could you think of what I might do to fix the patch myself to my liking?
Or would you consider doing it yourself for a new version against a donation at your website? (If you see this as a bug, that is.)

All the best,
