Device Overview
Name/Version: | Image to MIDI Converter 2.0 | ![]() |
Author: | mganss | |
Description: | This device generates MIDI clips from image files (JPG, PNG, GIF, possibly others). It's a rewrite of Tom Cosm's original Image to MIDI Converter device (https://gumroad.com/l/ZiGjZ). Unlike the original device it generates MIDI through JavaScript and the Live Object Model, eliminating the need to record into a different track and making the process many times faster. It also preserves the aspect ratio of the image. Usage: Click Open to select an image file. The conversion process starts immediately (takes a few seconds) and creates a new clip in the same track. Make sure to zoom out to see the full image. Also, you might have to increase the clip's length afterward to see the image at its original aspect ratio. If you enable draw mode, MIDI notes are only created for parts of the image where the brightness does not exceed a threshold, as explained in Tom's video for the original device: https://youtu.be/YXKZob8Y9sQ If you like this device, please consider donating at Tom's page mentioned above. |
