Author: | floszk |
Device Type: | MIDI Effect |
Description: | Midi Loop Drawer is a simple sequencer made to draw and create loops of MIDI notes. Choose the loop’s length (in seconds or bars), choose the number of notes you want into the loop, define ranges for velocities & notes duration, then Draw and play ! Two versions are included : embeded into tracks effects’s area / wide screen standalone window. #Device location Put the device on a midi track before a midi instrument. #Trigger loop Set the trigger mode : free or quantized (choose the quantization). Quantized implies to start the Ableton Live’s transport. #Number of notes & Loop’s length Set the number of notes you want into your loop (from 1 to 128). Set the loop’s length in bars or seconds (from 0.5 to 15 seconds, or from 1 to 32 bars). Play with these values when loop is running for cool effects. #Drawing range Define the lowest/highest notes you need to draw. #Velocity & Duration ranges Velocity : from 0 to 127. Duration : from 10 ms to 1.5 seconds. Random values will be triggered for each note when loop is playing. Setting same min and max will lead to fixed value (no random). #Buttons Play / Stop (Play depends on free or quantized mode). Resync : re-play loop. Directions : Forward / Backward / Ping-Pong including bounds / Ping Pong excluding bounds. #Horizontal & Vertical selectors Select and remote notes. Useful for midi control. #Track’s volume control A slider to remote the track’s volume is available for the standalone version. #Midi mapping Numboxes, buttons and sliders are mappable. #Trick Notes’s colors are repeating each 8 notes. Ex : grey will appears for the 1st, 9th, 17th etc …, blue at 8th, 16th, etc … easy way to find which note is playing at which moment of the loop ! ______________________________________________________ A video about this device : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itU22gI_pno ______________________________________________________ For more information please visit : http://flo.szk.fr/m4l/ ______________________________________________________ Here is a short exploration of the famous piece Piano Phase from Steve Reich with 2 x devices :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xmn0o7a28pc ______________________________________________________ |

Hello !
by length you mean "the note duration" ?
So yep, duration and velocity are picked up randomly into their respective ranges at each sequencer's step.
If you choose the same value for the min and max of a range, this will be a "fixed" value (no random).

How is the initial step length and step velocity determined? By random?
