Hi Tamiko !

I'm sorry, this device was created for triggering MIDI notes an clip with MIDI messages from 0 to 127 by using mapping functions (as an exemple, mapping a fader or modwheel on the left UI fader). The gate define the value that trigger the desired desired message, depending which mode you choose on the corresponding channel. The inverse mode is just a way to flip gate behavior (triggering when the MIDI value pass under or over the gate value, depending on what device you use to map).
I designed this device in first place to trigger drum sample with an Arduino (using Arduino M4L device) and a photoresistor.
In your case, you need something that monitor MIDI messages received in a first track, and then mute or bypass MIDI messages that coming in a device (instrument) on a second track.
I don't think you can achieve this goal with this device, or a least without other stuff. I hope you will find something more useful for this, sorry that my device didn't helped you.
