Device Overview

Name/Version: Fermi 1.1.3
Author: TristanSutcliffe
Description: Fermi is a polyphonic MIDI note echo/delay effect. It operates similarly to an audio based delay, but is done using velocity instead. It is also able to sync to a sequenced/modulated tempo from Paradox. The effect is triggered when it receives a MIDI note off message.

1.1.1 Important Update: This fixes all the communications bugs, but breaks compatibility with older versions of all the devices. Please download the latest version of the devices.

Paradox can be downloaded here:

- Use Ableton Lives transport tempo, or use the Paradox sequenced/modulated tempo.

- Set a percentage chance to echo a note after a MIDI note is turned off. This happens on a per note basis.

- Set the feedback dial to input a decay factor on the velocity of the echo effect. The higher the percentage the longer it takes for the echo to fade out. At 100%, it never decays and repeats indefinitely until the dial is turned back, or reset button is used. Fermi will use the velocity value of the received MIDI note as the starting point.

- Invert the echo, when the effect is triggered, it starts at quietest velocity and decays upwards to the velocity of the original note received. The effect ends when the original velocity is reached.

- Toggle between playing the incoming MIDI notes and the echo. Or mute incoming MIDI and only play the echos.

- Set a BPM range for the effect to trigger in. If the current tempo falls out of this range, the echo effect will not trigger.

Note: Ensure that your synthesiser is configured to use velocity to scale the amplitude. Or use velocity on any preferred parameter.

Change Notes:
1.0.1 - Minor UI tweak.
1.1 - Resolved issues with poly instances have clocks out of sync on very first activation. Effect now works when Ableton is not playing.
1.1.1 - Changed the communication pattern, moved away from udpsend/udpreceive.
1.1.2 - Fixed graphics frame rate issue.
1.1.3 - Added live.banks to modify settings with Ableton Push.
