Device Overview

Name/Version: JX-8P Synthesizer Programmer 2.0
Author: MothRetra
Description: Enjoy your JX-8P to the max, with this Max For Live device by Moth Retra. Programming the synth made EASY!

FEATURES and BENEFITS of the JX-8P Synthesizer Programmer:

Set-up like the PG-800, has the look and feel of the PG-800, but it doesn't cost $700.

No need to have an iPad, or the buggy Ctrlr software, to get a good programmer for the JX-8P. It's all integrated into Ableton Live, so that means all parameters (except for a few) can be MIDI mapped and/or automated. This is HUGE!

Pop-up, floating window.

The PG-800 lacked a patch reset/initialization function. Now, you have it! The patch INIT button is worth its weight in solid GOLD! You will find it as one of the most useful and time-saving features of the JX-8P Synthesizer Programmer.

Patch RANDOMIZATION function. Spark some random creativity in your patch creation!

Control the Key Mode (Poly, Unison, Solo, etc.) and Portamento.

Note Delay: Adjust delay timing of MIDI notes, but not parameter adjustments/automation, to allow "non-destructive" groove-tweaking in fast arpeggios or other note sequences.

Sysex Timing: Because we're controlling a synthesizer from 1985 with modern software that allows for real-time automation of parameters, sometimes the synth can be negatively affected. To help balance performance vs. reliability, the Sysex Timing knob reduces the throughput of data from the Programmer to the synthesizer.

Bump Recall: Load a patch in real-time, on the fly. Requires some finesse, but it can be done within a song's arrangement!

SAVE* your custom patches and RECALL them within Live. Utilize Live's Browser and "Hot-Swap" functionality to load new patches into the Programmer! Or drag and drop saved patches, which are actually saved instances of the device itself, into the Browser, as stand-alone, OR within a device group with chained FX!

* NOTE: Patch-saving, initiated from The Programmer to the synth, is not a function of this software. However, you may indeed tweak parameters via The Programmer and perform a save command on the hardware synthesizer itself, if desired.

Trust me, you're going to love this, and you're going to love your JX-8P more!

NOTES:

I have a JX-8P and have developed this programmer with performance and usability in mind. The rack version of the JX-8P, the MKS 70, may work with the programmer as well, but I have not, nor have the means to, test it. If Sysex is the same between the two synthesizers, then it should work.

Programmer is "one-way," i.e. MIDI from the computer to the hardware synthesizer.
