Device Overview

Name/Version: Step Arpeggiator 1.1
Author: UdoRBrauna
Description: Step Arpeggiator is a pattern-based arpeggiator.

Program a pattern and it will play the notes of the chord according to the pattern.

You can save up to 16 patterns that will save with the live set, and you can store them on an external file to use it whenever you want.

The patterns can be up to 32 steps long and up to 16 simultaneous notes.

In the matrix, you can select one or more cells to trigger a single note or a chord in every step.
And with the lower row, you can select if you want to play the next or previous note, that way you can set the arpeggiator to "up" or "down" like any other arp.

Round-robin mode: If the chord played has less notes than the arpeggiator pattern, you can select what to do with the highest notes: round-robin, top-note or no-note, and it will show a visual representation accordingly.

Visual Swing mode: When you click at the swing amount, it will open a visual representation of the musical notation of what it's doing. This way you know if you're playing like a "triplet" swing (2:1), or like a "quintuplet" (3:2), etc.

And of course, Step Arpeggiator has all the other things an arpeggiator have. Like Sync/Free Rate (with triplets and dotted notes), Duration (aka Gate) of every note, Swing on/off, Swing Amount (groove), Retrigger options, a Transpose option, etc.

Very nice.

Thanks for uploading.

Any chance you could make it so that the loop start and end braces could be modulatable/controllable - so we could use our knobs (:o) to riff with the device.

@saulbass Maybe there's a way. I put it on my to-do list.
Thanks.

Hey Udo
Thanks for fantastic device but it constantly overwrites Undo changes thus it's not possible to Ctrl-Z anymore :(

@16x16 Sorry about that. It has been fixed in the new update.

Thank you!

Wow! That's fast thanks a lot

32 steps selectable as an int number, very simple yet powerful way to design the arp pattern with arrows, ability to save as .json... Im in love with this device!

Hi there,
a really cool Arpeggiator ;-)
One hint... the Sync and/or Rate are not correctly saved with a project. After loading a project the Sync and/or the Rate is wrong... not saved. Maybe some other values to?
But great Arpeggiator so far ;-)
Cheers Andesiro

Hi Andesiro,
I can't replicate this bug. Sync/Rate knob is correctly saved in my project.

What version of Live are you using? Is only this knob that is not saved? Or also other parameters?

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi there,

You are right the 'Rate' is saved correctly, but after reopening a project with "Live" the ARP is playing at maximum speed. Sounds funny, but cannot be used like this ;-)

And yes, there is another problem with the internal 'presets'. Saving works, but after reopening the 'Preset' is no longer the same. Maybe a feature or I just didn't understand it :-)

My Live version: 11 (the last one)
Cheers Andesiro

Your plug-in is excellent but there are some issues that have to be resolved:

1. Sometimes when I load a project, it loads without the song names. it shows the select a locator message instead of the actual marker name corresponded to that locator.

2. when I tried to keymap a play button I noticed that the yellow active presentation is still showing even after I let go of the keyboard. and the way to make it go away is to press again the same keymap. this makes the keymap function not work as intended.

3. When I try to MIDI map the play button it all goes worse because it's keeps on launching, again and again, the same midi message

If you could fix these problems I guarantee that this plug-in is it must have!!
