Description: | I took some ideas from jehrich's "Max Bliss" collection and added new functionalities and a new design. Beyond the normal implementations that can be easily deduced from Warped Vinyl Hifi's midi manual, the great advantage that this device brings is the possibility to choose a Live's tempo-based rate for the vibrato, spanning from the whole note to the sixty-fourth note (including dotted and triplets). I also added another trick: the "Reset Ramp Automation" toggle. This allows to send a time-based midi value of 127 on the CC#102 which, according to the midi manual, "with the pedal already engaged will reset any ramping that is happening, if any ramping is happening". The speed of this reset is specified with the same Live.tab object that normally controls the RPM rate (the object with the note symbols), so it linked to the bpm of the Live session. When driven at crazy speed, like with a sixty-fourth note division and high bpm Live session, it resets the ramp at such a speed that on certain parameters it creates effects otherwise unreproducible with the pedal. Give it a try ! Just remember that the Lag, Mix, RPM, Depth, or the Warp dip switches on the left side must be turned on for ramping capability. Unlike the other M4L devices I made for Chase Bliss pedals, here I also added a knob for the "expression" parameter which, if you do not have any parameters selected via dip switch, "allow to control the waveform directly" (quote from the manual). I didn't fully get what it does exactly, but it is a nice effect. Little nerdy bonus: having done some measurements with Smaart, I found out that the range of the "Lag" knob varies between 1.7ms and 15.85ms. I then added the milliseconds scale on the device, trying to match as closely as possible the real behavior of the knob. A small note for the correct functioning of this device: the pedal must be categorically on Midi clock "OFF". I have left the option to set it to "ON", but this prevents the possibility of spacing over all the time divisions, since the midi clock "blocks" the pedal on its internal divisions. |
