It randomly chooses notes that will play, according to a probability factor. I use it most for melodies after the mono sequencer, but it should do the job with beats too. Funny, I am using the same technique in some of my music.
Your device made me look into my own patch and I found some bugs in both mine and yours.
I am posting the revised device, and I have also have added a repetition filter.
