| Description: | Orbit is an esoteric feedback instrument for Max for Live and the first device in the Lucien Dargue series. Rather than a traditional synthesizer, it is a gen~-based feedback network where sound emerges from non-linear interactions between modules, inspired by Vink, Kayn, and Di Scipio. It features a stochastic parameter matrix, meaning controls are interdependent: moving one parameter can unpredictably affect others. The core is feedback, evolving through different regimes (echo, resonance, chaos) via non-linear bifurcations. An internal companding system maintains balance, preventing collapse. Orbit behaves like an autopoietic system: it self-organizes, evolves, and generates sound structures without continuous input. It produces textures ranging from delicate microsound to dense accumulations, always in flux and never repeatable. Presets are unreliable each state is unique. It should be treated like a recording instrument: capture the moment. Ideal for experimental music, sound design, and installation, it prioritizes listening and patience over control. |
