| Description: | Click a clip in Ableton Live Press "Get/Route" button in the patch Wait 1-2 seconds for it to finish Press Play (spacebar) in Live Recording happens automatically (or click RecFixed/recFree manually) Done! New clip appears in destination track What This Patch Does: Takes audio from one track and bounces it to another while preserving volume, pan, and send levels + syncing to clip loops or Ableton's quantization + optionally creating scene snapshots. Step-by-Step Usage Guide Step 1: Create or Select Your Destination Track(s) Option A: Create a new track automatically Leave all track input toggles OFF (all 4 are unchecked) The system will create a brand new track for recording Option B: Target an existing track Toggle ON one or more of the track inputs (Bass, Melody, Harmony, TEST) The text field will pre-populate with that track name You can edit the name if your track has a different name The system will route to that track instead of creating new Step 2: Select Your Source Clip In Ableton Live, click on the clip you want to bounce. Step 3: Press "Get/Route" This is the main button. It does several things at once: Reads the clip length Captures mixer settings (volume, pan, send levels) Scans the track for sends Creates or targets your destination track(s) Routes the source track → destination track input Disarms the source track (so you don't double-record) Arms the destination track (ready to record) Adjusts quantization if needed Wait for it to complete. You'll see the patch update and become "ready" to record. Status indicators: If successful, the recording mode buttons will activate If something fails, check the Max console (View > Max Console) for error messages RECORDING WORKFLOW After pressing Get/Route, you have two choices: Choice A: Use AutoStart (Recommended for most users) Enable AutoStart: Toggle autoStart ON (it's usually on by default) Press Get/Route again Recording will start automatically the next time it hits the right moment What happens: If you chose "Start At Loop Start Point" (synced mode): Waits for the original clip to finish its loop Starts recording right at the loop boundary Records for exactly the clip's length Stops automatically when done If you chose "Start Globally Quantized" (free mode): Waits for Ableton's global quantization to trigger Respects your Live set's quantization settings (1/4 note, 1/8th, etc.) Records for the clip's length Stops automatically when done No manual buttons needed - it just works! Choice B: Manual Control (For detailed editing) Disable AutoStart: Toggle autoStart OFF Press Get/Route Now the RecFixed and recFree buttons become active RecFixed button: Records in synced mode Waits for the loop boundary, then starts Records for exactly the clip length Click once to start, wait for it to finish Good for: Precise clip bouncing with timing sync recFree button: Records in free mode Respects Ableton's global quantization Click to start, click to stop whenever you want Good for: Creative recording, layering, recording different lengths SYNC MODE vs FREE MODE (Important!) Start At Loop Start Point (Synced Mode) - Use this for: Precise beat-for-beat bouncing Looped clips you want to sync with When you want the recording to start at a specific musical point How it works: Reads where the source clip currently is in its loop Calculates how many beats until it loops Waits until the loop point arrives Then starts recording Perfect synchronization, no drift Start Globally Quantized (Free Mode) - Use this for: Quick recording without waiting for sync When precise timing doesn't matter as much Respecting Ableton's global quantization (snap to grid) How it works: Ignores the source clip's position Waits for Ableton's next quantization point (1/4 note, 1/8th, etc.) Starts recording there Useful when you want to layer or punch in SCENE CREATION (Automatic) When you record to an existing track (not a new track), the patch automatically: Creates a new scene (inserted after the current scene) Copies all currently playing clips to that new scene Excludes your source and destination tracks (to avoid duplicates) Example: You have Bass, Drums, and Synth tracks all playing clips You press Get/Route on the Bass track, targeting "Bounce". If "Bounce" already has a clip, a new scene is created. Drums and Synth clips are copied to the new scene, Bass clip stays where it was (it's the source) Bounce track is empty (it gets the new recording) Result: A clean snapshot of everything playing at that moment If you DON'T want scenes created: Toggle OFF the track inputs (create a new track instead). No scene will be created, just a simple recording to a brand new track. SPECIAL CONTROLS ReQntz Button What it does: Re-measures your position in the current measure and adjusts quantization. Use when: You're working with odd time signatures (5/4, 7/8, etc.) You want to snap to the nearest beat/measure Recording in complex polymeters How to use: Click the ReQntz button It reads where you are in the measure Automatically adjusts quantization to the most relevant beat Now your next recording will snap to that beat |
