| Description: | Introducing the 36db dbmx-1980, a Max for Live device inspired by the classic hardware delays and effects that shaped modern music. It captures the movement, colour and depth of vintage gear and brings it into a fluid, modern workflow inside Ableton Live™. From shimmering choruses and grainy delays to evolving modulations and saturated atmospheres, the dbmx-1980 moves easily between vintage warmth and experimental texture, all without breaking your flow. Why dbmx-1980? After years of working in studios and shaping sounds, we’ve built a deep respect for the synths and processors that defined tone, space and movement in the 1980s. One of the main inspirations behind this device is the AMS 1580S, a late 70s delay with a sound that became essential to artists like Brian Eno, Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Chemical Brothers, Erol Alkan, Bicep, Orbital and Leftfield. Many of those original units are still running today, but finding one in top condition is rare, and when you do, the price is on another level. The dbmx-1980 was never meant to clone the past. It carries that spirit forward, blending analog unpredictability with digital precision so you can sculpt everything from clean movement to chaotic colour inside Live. |
