| Description: | Version 002 Want to see something cool? Thanks to the suggestion of one of our Midi File Player users, we just added the ability to transpose the midi notes being played! Thanks to a suggestion by one of our customers, users are no longer stuck playing the pattern of the note of the key slot you dropped your midi file onto! We were even able to offer transposing as the midinfile is playing. Just drop a file onto one of the piano keys, click hitting Sustain and Loop, trigger the note and play with the mappable Transpose slider to change the notes 36 semitones up or down! And in keeping with out NIGHT SERIES devices, we have activated Night mode on the Midi FIle Player, while keeping this device still very light on the CPU (between 0-1%). Just click the large note display in the top left to toggle between Ableton orange and NIGHT SERIES red. ----------------------------- version 001 Play any midi file drum patterns or melodies by just dropping them on any of the 24 notes (C1-B2). You can see the pathname of all the dropped files by just clicking on the keyboard. Just add the MIDI FILE PLAYER MaxforLive midi device before any instrument or drum rack to play back 24 midi clips with any sound you can think of. Click Loop to make the midi clip repeat as long as you hold down a key - or click Sustain to hold it down for you. The note you are playing is displayed using the same technology as our Midi Monitors. We’ve also added a tiny keyboard progress display at the bottom in case you’re not quite sure where you are in the key range. You can even play along using the same instrument by clicking THRU - essentially making it a split keyboard! And when you’re ready to play, just click MAP to hide the keyboard to free up display space for other devices. As always, this is very low CPU and just click the large Note display to change everything to red to match our NIGHT SERIES https://spookyinc.gumroad.com/ Note: Pairs perfectly with other Ableton midi devices... see 2nd screenshot with the Scale Device https://spookyinc.gumroad.com/l/midifileplayer |

Great idea. Any chance of a future update that will automatically transpose a melodic midi file to the Global Key in Ableton?

Thanks for the good idea CarlSolovox!
I tried editing the Device to shift the scale internally, but have discovered the way the Midi is handled is unlike normal midi signal.
However, I was able to shift the notes to fit the Global Key/Scale, as you suggested, by adding the Ableton Stock SCALE device after our MIDI FILE PLAYER device and it worked perfectly. Hope it works for you!

This is brilliant. Is there anyway you could add a 'thru' mode that means one midi clip will play from where the last one left off? So if I add 2 4 bar loops and stop holding the key of the first loop after 1 bar and then press a second loop it will play from 1 through to 4 as opposed to 0 through to 4? Does that make sense?
