Overview

Name | Version: Sleepy Circuits Hypno Controller 1.0
Author: leifiju
Device Type: Audio Effect
Description: This is a device aimed to control Sleepy Circuits' Hypno video synthesizer within Ableton Live via CC MIDI messages.

The USB power connector is not transporting MIDI, so here's the setup I'm using for it to work with Live :

- Hypno (CM4 version) powered by USB plug

- MIDI controller connected to one of Hypno's USB A input with a MIDI-to-USB interface to use the MIDI OUT DIN connector of the controller (for instance my controller is a Arturia Keylab MkII)

- Same MIDI Controller connected to computer with the USB-B output

- In Live's preferences, in the "Link, Tempo & MIDI" tab, the controller's remote ouput box must be checked.

- In a new MIDI track, insert my device and Live's "External Instrument Device", and set this one up to send messages to your controller in Channel 16

If you click on the (+) icon, additional options will appear :
- Activate USB INPUT if you have a USB Source connected to the Hypno
- Click on ALL to resend all the data set in the device to the Hypno
- Click on MODES to resend only the data from the mode menus
- Click on PAGE to resend only the data from the currently selected page of knobs

You can also record your performance on the hypno switching from the MIDI OUT to the MIDI IN DIN connector and either MIDI Map all functions the device, or simply record on the track (but it won't be linked to the device, just cc values within the record clip).

There's a version for firmware 2.3 if you have not upgraded your unit, with less features. If you ask for it I will upload it separately.

BEWARE : this max device cannot function as a preset saver it cannot recall correctly all the parameters.
