Device Overview

Name/Version: Thinner 1.0
Author: MusicWithMachines
Description: Thinner filters out repeating CC values. Use it if you experience crashes with old external hardware caused by overloading their Midi buffers with redundant messages.

Redundant CC values come from Clip Automation Envelopes. While these high-precision float values are scaled into 7-bit integer space value repetitions happen which are better filtered out before being sent to old Midi hardware.

Turn device on to filter out redundant MIDI CC values and off to deactivate the filter.

nb: Since I couldn't test this with my own Midi equipment I am interested to hear from anyone who successfully uses Thinner to avoid crashing their Midi gear.

This device has not been tested on Live 10 but will most likely work.

Hi there! Seems that you need to freeze the device, I can't open "poly~ thinner_filter 123"... this resulting in CC filtering.
cheers

@RogueLeada You are right, I overlooked that. I just uploaded a fixed version. Thanks a lot!

great !!! now it just works :) thanks a lot ! For my personnal needs I 've duplicated the "poly~ thinner_filter 123" to filter redundances also in poly key pressure data... Really appreciate your device, and thank you again for your reactivity.

Thanks for letting me know. Good find with Poly Key Pressure. I'll check all possible message types to see if there are more that could need filtering. However, I wonder if there are any old Midi devices that understand it.

Quick reactivity would be easier if there were a notification function for comments.

Ignore my last sentence. I just checked the settings for the first time =)
