this is still puzzling me, no clue why this is happening sometimes. Solution:

* drag and drop the preset first on a empty track-> you get a box with the error message you wrote
* drag and drop the device on that box

after that it should work

@mattpound808: uh you know, that's actually not obvious at all, thanks for pointing it out! Added a "Please note" to the description :)

should be sufficient to drag and drop it to a empty MIDI track (or double clicking it). Have you got the latest Live-Max/MSP? not sure it will work with older versions. Anyway please describe your problem better
