This allows perfect mono compatibility, with no phase cancellation. It also makes it possible to design stereo bass that works perfectly in club environments, where low frequencies are often summed to mono. Your low end stays solid, while your stereo image becomes alive. But it doesn’t stop there. Quadrature is just the starting point ! it opens the door to much more extreme and creative processing. ▶ From audio to geometry Once in quadrature, your signal becomes a vector. You can then control the angle between left and right, rotate the entire stereo field, and animate stereo width in a continuous and musical way. This is not simple panning. This is not the Haas effect, and it avoids phase issues. This is vector-based stereo processing. ▶ MIDI-controlled stereo movement Rotation can be synchronized with MIDI notes. This means the rotation rate can follow pitch. You get a new kind of modulation: spectral phase modulation. Perfect for bass design, movement, and experimental sound design. It works especially well with monophonic synths like Rupture. ▶ How it works Rotation uses a dual all-pass filter network to generate a real and imaginary version of your signal, shifted by 90 degrees, without introducing latency. ▶ FREE StereoScope Rotation comes with StereoScope v1.0, a free device to visualize your stereo signal in real time.
