Description: This is a Max For Live MIDI Device !

AL303 is a 303-style bassline synthesizer with generative elements. Unlike a traditional 303, I completely reworked the sequencer logic while preserving the essential characteristics of classic 303 sequencing.

The TB-303 is one of the most influential synthesizers in electronic music history. Its sound is highly distinctive, and while its sequencer is extremely powerful, it is also famously difficult to use. In AL303, the Trig Sequencer has been redesigned as a clearer, more readable grid sequencer. More importantly, the sequencing of Pitch, Glide, Accent, and Octave is entirely dice-based and generator-driven. Instead of programming each step, you simply control the amount of variation and gradually curate the results.

This design is intended to produce more unexpected and strange bassline sequences—exactly the kind of unpredictability that makes the TB-303 so captivating.

Due to my limited programming skills, I wasn’t able to implement the iconic −18 dB filter of the original TB-303, which is a real regret. Aside from that, I added several popular modern features, such as unison, which somehow gives the instrument a different shade of acid character.

Enjoy the fun that the 303 has brought to the world of electronic music. And if you’re familiar with Max, you’re more than welcome to modify my patch and release your own open-source version!
