| Description: | We’ve been working on this audio M4L device for awhile now, and are finally excited to release NIGHT THERAMIN+ (Plus). At first it works like a basic Theramin - move the slider to adjust volume and pitch (frequency) for a sci-fi sound - complete with a visual graph of your signal. Right there on that initial screen, you can also add an undulating Phase to the signal, or change the signal wave all together by changing the wave shape from Sine, Triangle, Square, Saw+ or Saw-, pulse or noise. Push your out of this world sound even further by pressing the FX button, revealing more ways to modify your sound - the carrier wave. Add amazing changes adding brightness and harmonics to the carrier signal - with its own individual scope. Further sculpt your sound with a separate carrier wave, complete with it’s own wave shape selector. One of the things I really wanted to see was a way to adjust an incoming audio (from a clip or another track or a microphone). This was one of the challenges I set for myself with NIGHT MOD and was finally able to add a way to modify incoming sound source. Just turn the Audio and Mod dials to send the incoming audio signal through the carrier wave - meaning the incoming audio is also effected by the second (carrier) wave type for some crazy sound design possibilities! NIGHT THERAMIN+ can also be added to a Midi track to manipulate the incoming sound from the instrument through the carrier wave (just remember to turn up the AUDIO dial in the carrier wave’s Modulation window. While still experimental, if no instrument is loaded, you can “play”the Theramin+ with your midi keyboard/device. The semitone adjusts the Frequency and the Velocity of your playing adjusts the gain (volume). As far as I can tell, the audio signal input is disabled when on a Midi track. (If anyone knows how to do this, feel free to let me know and I’d be happy to add it). To add that out of space sound, we first added a digital Delay with a step delay (pushed to a full 2 bars). Secondly, we added the ever important Reverb to really add some space or take you to outer space. Both have a Dampen dial to round out and adjust the strength of the sounds. (Note: If you can’t hear the delay, try toggling the PING PONG button to reset the delay) Rounding it off, and to keep from clipping and blowouts that are common to Theramin playing, we’ve added a limiter at the end of the chain - including a hard or soft clip option, depending on the sound you’re looking for. Being able to see both the signal and the carrier waves, and how your adjustments are modifying the sounds was important to me so I made sure both scopes were large and easy to read. And as always, NIGHT THERAMIN+ has been designed to match seamlessly with our NIGHT SERIES classic retro design - with bold reds on a black background for that iconic 80s style.
