Author: | ShelLuser |
Device Type: | MIDI Effect |
Description: | Ever saw the introduction movie for the Novation Launchpad where they used it to play on a drumrack while getting visual feedback ? This patch gives you the same options on the APC40 when used with Live 8. On Live 9 it can only display the visual MIDI feedback. Pull it in and it will auto detect the APC40 and use the first device it finds. Make sure to add a drumrack to the track its on, otherwise the effect is a bit wasted (check the indicator). Turn on the device using the 2nd rotary and the upper left 4x4 grid of your APC can now be used as a drumpad on Live 8 while also giving visual feedback. On Live 9 you'll only get visual feedback (can't play the APC). You can also use a MIDI clip to play your drumrack and watch all the notes get displayed on your APC as well... The first rotary can be used to set the velocity you want to use (obviously the APC isn't velocity sensitive). When you turn the device off (using the 2nd rotary) the matrix will be reset to normal. |

Not working for me... It recognises the drum rack, but when I turn it on nothing happens, the APC still does what it does normally...

APC40 or APC20? (just making sure; it was build for APC40).
If APC40 then I assume you're either using more controllers or the APC isn't the first controller. If that's the case; could you tell me where you setup the APC40 (Pref. screen, MIDI Sync tab); so the number of the row (1 - 6) ?
Last option: You're not using the default MIDI remote script for the APC40 but someone elses script. Then its also possible that my script can't detect this.

Hey! I love the idea and can't wait to use it!
But I'm having an issue: it recognizes the drum rack, and I can turn it on and the 4x4 designated area for the drumpad will stop working as clip launchers, and the red box thing will disappear, as one would expect.
When I press the buttons in the 4x4 area nothing happens. If I use the computer keyboard, the corresponding button lights up in the APC40, but when I press the button, nothing happens... Help?

I did more testing and stuff changed in Live 9. The APCP4d can still turn off the APC40 matrix and then use the upper left 4x4 area to display notes, but as far as I can tell it is no longer possible to use the APC40 as a drumpad.
I'll update the device to reflect on these changes while also trying to keep some kind of 'legacy mode'.
